How I Spent My January Vacation

I decided to take a week long vacation. From what I don't know as I don't really work that hard but a vacation none the less. During this week I am hoping to work on some projects. I plan to finish the Little Doodles Anthology, maybe not this week but soon. Free copies for all of my friends. Both of you! I also plan to work on some stuff for my Monster-in-Law's blog and maybe start a new comic! It's been a long time since I've even thought about doing one so I've got some material stored up. I'm also making it my mission to locate a copy of Flash MX somewhere as I really want to get started on some animation for Weirdsville. I will also probably take what little I've written for the Bongo sketch and extend it out or write more sketches to be used for a puppet thing for Weirdsville. That's a lot to accomplish in one week especially considering that I have a lot of other stuff that I need to do! Normal day to day stuff but I've been holed up at work over the holidays and just now free to tend to menial tasks. Some vacation. No sunny beaches. Just me in a semi-dark room typing and drawing all day while I listen to the million and one songs I've stored on my computer. I wouldn't have it any other way.

THE NEW HOTNESS
So I've decided on a project to work on until I can get my hands on Flash MX and start some cartoons for Weirdsville Troupe. I'm collecting all of my drawings and cartoons that I've done to this point and putting them into a little thing I'm calling, "The Little Doodles Anthology". I'm putting every comic, sketch, etc. that I find worthy into one book and adding comments and backstory on all of them. It's been fun so far and it will help me to put that piece of my artistic life behind me and help me to start on new things. I don't even care if anyone digs it or not. I just want to put it all together in one place so that I know I have an archive of it. I will probably have it all made into a book and have 5-10 made up for my friends and family to have. I've been wanting to do something like this for a while. I think it will put me at peace with my creative past and allow me to focus on newer stuff (Which I already said but wanted to emphasize). Here is a small piece of it so far(From Part One):

What you currently hold in your hands is an anthology. The title probably gave that away. It is an anthology of comics and personal reminiscence on said comics. But not just any comics mind you. Comics written and drawn by myself, P****** O. H****** also known in some circles (If two brothers, a sister, my wife, and a few friends can form a circle that is) as Little Doodles. Little Doodles was the name I chose to use for a collection of my comics that I put out in 1995. The comics in question had, for the most part, appeared in a punk/pop culture ‘zine called, “Aunt Ida” that I did for a few years with my Uncle Ant, my cousin Kenny, and my bro Jesse. A ‘zine, for those of you who don’t know, is a self published magazine sold or traded through the mail. They were mostly filled with the creators personal obsessions (Punk, Pez dispensers, sexual fetishes, whatever…)and have been made extinct by the internet. Print is dead! Why bother paying for copies, stamps,envelopes, etc. to gain a limited audience when you can post everything on the web for the whole world to see? I myself still believe in paper. Hence the anthology. Plus, I’m web design retarded or it would probably be a web site!

That's the first paragraph. I'm pretty far into it. It's going very smoothly. Hopefully I'll have it done within two months! That's all for now. I'm going to work on this some more!

BEEN SO LONG...........

Hullo.....this is the latest thing I've done with that famous (Yeah..right) beatnik, Bongo. My cutie-pie MIL (You have to go to her blog to get that inside reference) is into knitting and digs the beat characters I draw so I whipped this up per her request (Something with Beatniks and Yarn I believe the vague request consisted of, so I had a lot of creative freedom). I hope that Yarn Barn doesn't sue me as this beatnik has had enough legal action threatened against him (Another story, another time). I haven't done anything creative in such a long time I think it really helps when someone shows an interest and gives you that extra push. My little brother is good at that. I try to help him with his stuff and he trys to help me with mine (Dig him at Weirdsvilletroupe.blogspot.com or sunshineinwinterpark.blogspot.com and try to guess which freak is him). We give each other encouragement and feedback. Plus my Wife keeps telling me I should do more artwork/writing while I try to ignore her over the drone of the latest video game crack I'm addicted to. People like this are why I do poke my head out of my video game hole every now and then and actually accomplish something. It's getting to be rarer and rarer but I've decided that my New Year's resolution (One of them anyway) is to spend my one off day a week (Off from work that is. I'm OFF everyday) doing long idle projects (This is that day this week). One of these will definitely be a new Little Doodles comic that I will share with whomever wants one. And I'm sure the Monster-In-Law will be happy to hear that I will finally break ground on the "Simply Enchanting" series I've long imagined but never got around to starring a good witch that slightly resembles her and a leprechaun that looks a lot like my Pop. I hope to keep this up also just to keep a hand in writing and continue to develop that so that when I eventually get around to writing more I will feel more confident. I'll post a few more thing today or tomorrow that I've been messing around with to show everyone where I'm at so stay tuned.

Gimpy

This is Gimpy. He lives to be beaten. Whip him, beat him, make him write bad checks. He wants all you can dish out. He is a new cartoon character who will probably make his debut on Weirdsville (If I ever get a hold of Flash MX). He does everything he can to get people to hit him. He is annoying and rude but it's just so he can feel the sweet sweet pain. Gimpy...gotta love him.

MORE ARTWORK TO PERUSE

If I can ever fix my website then there will be a lot of artwork to look at but for now here are some more pictures. To the left is a nice collage made for a notebook and named after a punk song. So much anger. It may be an odd fact but all of the clippings were taken from Entertainment Weekly magazine. That includes all of the violent words.....so much violence in the cinema, thank cheebus. This is one of my favorite collages that I have ever done. I used to do them all the time for the punk 'zine "Aunt Ida" But I really haven't done many since. I think it's the rubber cement that I like. It's bouncy!

BONGO THE BEATNIK

One of the characters that you will probably be seeing more of possibly in puppet form for the Weirdsville Troupe. He's a fifties beatnik cat with a lot of hep friends. Once I start posting my artwork and other stuff I will probably get around to including some cartoons starring this hipster. I guess only time will tell.

HELLO HEPCATS,

Just wanted to get something on the blog to get started so this is just random typing I guess. If a room full of monkeys did it they would eventually churn out the complete works of Shakespeare but if just one monkey does it on his computer he'll eventually find porn. I am working on comedy sketches and cartoon/puppet stuff for Weirdsville Troupe. Hopefully I can manage to get some stuff together for them. Look here to see ideas and sketches that I have put together for them and then comment back on wether you like them or not. That way I can fix what needs fixed or just disregard your opinion entirely and do what I want (Probably the latter in most cases.). Enough for now but expect more soon.
